Description:
Expression of Interest are invited for Climate Change Impact and Adaptation Modeling for Uganda Climate change is a major risk to good development outcomes; and the World Bank Group is committed to helping countries integrate climate action into their core development agendas. The Country Climate and Development Reports (CCDRs) aim to help countries shift from addressing climate change as an incremental cost and isolated investment to systematically incorporating climate risks and opportunities at every phase of policy planning; investment design; implementation and evaluation of development outcomes. This request for expressions of interest is for an assignment to carry out the analytics on the impact of climate change on Uganda-s economy. The assignment will require a firm that has the capacity and experience in modeling impact channels using suitable models (e.g.; biophysical; hydro-economic; land optimization models) to: (i) assess the impacts of climate change on key sectors of Uganda-s economy and the economy overall; and (ii) generate results that can feed into a macro-structural model or CGE model and; as relevant; emission reduction benefits of climate action measures identified in a country-s Nationally Determined Contribution; Climate Change Action Plan; Long-Term Strategy and other long-term development plans. The models should be applied to a series of scenarios of the economy (e.g. Business-As-Usual; Development Aspirations as per long-term and resilient development) across a range of climate projections (e.g. SSPs; RCPs; GCMs). The aim is to understand and compare how different climate change related policy and investment interventions impact development objectives and the economy overall. The outputs should allow for geographic disaggregation (e.g. by county; agro-ecozone and/or rural livelihood types such as pastoralism or cropping systems) as well as for critical infrastructure.
