• Tenders are invited for Consultancy to Manage and Implement a Business Development Component. BACKGROUND Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a federal enterprise of the German Government and a provider of international cooperation services for sustainable development with over 50 years of experience in a wide variety of areas, including economic development and employment, water, energy and the environment, and peace and security. GIZ, is implementing the Global program on Sustainable Fishery and Aquaculture as part of the special initiative “One World- No hunger” from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). As part of this program, GIZ implements the Responsible Fisheries Business Chains Project (RFBCP) in Uganda focusing on sustainable fisheries management of the Nile Perch Fisheries in Lake Victoria. The project focuses on three main areas of activity: Improvement in the artisanal fisheries leading to better access to fisheries prod-ucts and employment opportunities, promotion of sustainable fisheries and reduction of illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing. Target groups are vulnerable households and communities, artisanal fishers and small and medium sized enterprises in the fishing sector. The project is designed to achieve an improved food security and income for an increasing population. Business Skills Development is in this context seen as a crucial tool to accomplish that objective. RFBCP is working with the Lake Victoria Fisheries Organization (LVFO) as its political partner. Implementation happens through LVFO, the Uganda Fish Processors and Exporters Association (UFPEA), The Directorate of Fisheries Resources (DiFR), as well as grassroots fisheries Implementing Partner Organizations including Asso-ciation of Fishers and Lake Users in Uganda (AFALU), Federation of Fisheries organizations in Uganda (FFOU) as well as the Katosi Women-s Development Trust (KWDT). One of the components of the RFBCP is the Business Development Service (BDS). The BDS will offer training on a variety of business skills as well as actual business development services through its Implementing Partner Organizations. The overall objective of the BDS provision is to enhance application of business skills for the target segment of boat owners, fish traders, fish processors and fish by product processors in the micro, small and medium category of the fisheries value chain. GIZ RFBCP is looking for a professional service provider to manage and supervise implementation of the BDS component. The Service Provider will be in charge of overall project management and delivery of the project outputs, through the coordination of all the Implementing Partner Organizations (IPO-s) in the execution of the BDS training and delivery. They will assure the quality of the trainings and as such guarantee the impact. APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS Qualified and experienced Consultancy Company with proven track record in Business Development Services and over 5 years of experience in Adult training programs, especially relating to business development. Experience within the fisheries business sector will be seen as an added value.
