Description:
Request for proposals are invited for Develop and Implement of Research UNCST is participating in the Science Granting Councils Initiative (SGCI) phase II PLUS, a 3-year program which seeks to strengthen the capacities of Science Granting Councils (SGCs) in Sub-Saharan Africa to support research and evidence-based policies that will contribute to economic and social development. UNCST is pleased to announce a call for research proposals under the SGCI II PLUS framework. We are looking to fund research projects thot align with National Development Plan III. The goal of this coll is to support and promote innovative research projects that have gone beyond proof of concept, propose innovative research based solutions to current issues and challenges facing Ugandan Manufacturing industry and have potential to bring about positive change. The focus thematic areas of research are: (i) Agro processing to promote import substitution and export expansion of high value products. (ii) Finished leather products manufacturing (iii) Green Energy options to increase access to and consumption of clean energy in Uganda to be considered for funding. The proposed research should be original, feasible and have practical implications for addressing real world problems facing Ugandan Manufacturing Sector in the three thematic areas. All research proposals will be evaluated based on their scientific merit, relevance, feasibility, and potential impact. Funding is available to support up five (5) selected research projects to a maximum budget of Uganda Shillings 175 million each. Proposals must be submitted by June llm, 2023 and successful applicants will be notified by June 30m, 2023. The research is expected to be completed within o period 24 months.
