Description:
Tenders are invited for Uganda - Financial and Market-based Pilots for Host Communities and Refugees in Uganda. The key output for the activity is the development of pilot interventions that target micro, small and medium enterprises, youth and women. The proposed activities fall under two pillars access to markets and access to finance. It is expected that one pilot will move ahead under each pillar, resulting in two pilots to be selected and implemented under this assignment. Eligible bidders may select pilots based on their relevant experience, assessment of the feasibility to implement the pilot ideas and budget considerations. The pilots under consideration include: i) fostering market linkages with farmer groups and small businesses through engagement with agro-processors, agents and farmers in the refugee settlements; ii) improving access to the labor market through an intermediation program targeting refugee and host community youth that links labor market demand with supply; iii) deepening digital financial services by supporting selected village savings and loans associations (VSLAs) and Savings and Credit Cooperatives to digitalize their services; iv) increasing the proximity of financial access points by training refugees women to become banking agents. The pilot locations are the areas that have been identified by the Embassy of the Netherlands in consultation with the Government of Uganda as part of the Prospects Partnership.
