• Description:
• Expression of Interest are invited for Provision of Consultancy Services for Establishment of Irrigation Demonstration Units. The Uganda Coffee Development Authority has allocated funds to be used to acquisition of the consultancy services described below. The entity now invites eligible consultations to submit sealed expressions of interest for consultancy services to undertake irrigation feasibility study. Interested consultants should provide information demonstrating that they are eligible and possess the required qualifications to perform the services supported with relevant documentation. The short listing criteria will include Eligibility criteria A valid tax clearance certificate for 2019-2020 Or 2020-2021 Financial Years. A certified copy of powers of attorney for firms registered in Uganda or a notarised one for foreign firms. A certified copy of certificate incorporation or its equivalent. At least two references for conducting similar assignments, preferably with international organisations and government institutions. The consultancy firm should have a minimum of 3 years' experience in undertaking similar assignments Key experts needed are: Specialist Role Minimum Academic Qualifi cations Experience Team Leader/ Projects Manager Overall leadership of the contract. Responsible for contract reporting and Overall management of all activities related to the contract, fi eld work and other activities. Experience in designing and setting irrigation units for smallholder, medium and commercial farms. Civil or Irrigation/Agricultural Engineer will be the Team Leader responsible for coordination of the activity. Minimum Academic qualifi cations for Key staff The key experts to undertake the assignment should possess the following: Team leader/Irrigation Specialist: Bsc. Agricultural Engineering/Agriculture/ irrigation/ Civil Engineering and Msc in Irrigation Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering. At least 7 years of relevant experience. Must be a registered Engineer with a recognized professional body. Hydrologist/Water Resources Expert. Determine cost implications for irrigation using different models at the different levels including bill of quantities (BoQ) for each model depending on region and level (I e. from sinking of water source to delivery at end point Hydrologist/Water Resources Expert: Bachelors of Science degree in Water Resources Engineering. A relevant fi eld with 5 years of relevant experience. Agronomist. Determine the likely agronomic and economic benefi t of irrigation per unit area of coffee farm. MSc. Crop science/ Agronomy or Agricultural Sciences and Bsc Agriculture At least 5years relevant experience and specifi c experience in agricultural studies and Irrigation development projects. Socioeconomic. Determine the most effective means for utilization of water at medium and commercial levels of coffee production and the most appropriate irrigation models; Provide suitable irrigation technologies for medium and commercial farms. Degree in economics. 5 years of relevant experience. d) The key experts` academic training documents should be attached. 5. Consultants may associate with other fi rms in the form of a joint venture to enhance their qualifi cations. The form of association, where applicable, should be indicated in the expression of interest. 6. Preference schemes shall apply when evaluating request for proposals from the shortlisted consultants. 7.
